LATICS LEGENDS TO RETURN FOR JOSEPH: Three Amigos and more back to raise funds for Joseph’s Goal

On the Friday 19th May, kicking off at 19:30pm, former footballers will be coming together for charity, raising money for Joseph’s Goal. The parents of Joseph Kendrick, a young boy sadly suffering with NKH, Paul and Emma, have set up a charity to raise funds for further research for finding a cure for NKH.
Ashton Town chairman Mark Hayes was touched, like all that encounter Joseph and his wonderful family, of his story and wanted to help their fundraising mission. Mark Hayes has hosted a number of charity events in the past for Joseph, with a charity football game at the club in May becoming annual since 2013, however this is set to be his biggest yet, with players flying from Belgium, Spain and Holland to be at his non-league club.
The Dutch Masters, a team led by former Wigan captain Arjan De Zeeuw will be flying over to Wigan based non-league club Ashton Town, to take part in their annual charity game fixture against a set of Wigan Athletic Legends.
Included in the Dutch Masters, is former Ajax star Angelos Charisteas who scored the winning goal for Greece against Portugal in the final of Euro 2004. De Zeeuw has built a star studded squad, filled with former internationals and Champions League winners.
The Dutch Masters will face tough competition from the Latics Legends with Wigan Athletic’s famous ‘Three Amigos’ set to be back together for the first time in two decades.
Roberto Martinez, Jesus Seba and Isidro Diaz captured the imagination of the footballing world when they swapped Spain for Springfield in 1995, to help kickstart the Dave Whelan regime that eventually led to the Premier League and FA Cup success.
Martinez, now the manager of Belgium, after previous spells at Wigan and Everton, will also be joined by his assistant manager Graeme Jones on this special night.
Former Wigan interim manager Graham Barrow, Port Vale manager Michael Brown, and Paul Scharner will be putting their boots back on, in a side led by Emmerson Boyce, who is an ambassador for Joseph’s Goal.
The full squad lists for both sides is star studded from internationals to players with experience at the highest level of football from in the Premiership to the Eredivisie
Tickets are available from the DW Stadium ticket office with the prices as £10 for adults and £5 for children, with all proceeds going to Joseph’s Goal.
