SQUAD SIGNINGS: Multiple footballing legends to join Davies’ XI ahead of Deaflympics fundraiser
Tonight, the Kevin Davies XI versus the Team GB 2017 Deaflympics football squad game is getting very exciting, with Davies announcing a few of his squad members ahead of the big showdown.
To add to former Preston North End, Wigan, and Liverpool striker Neil Mellor, Davies has added Wigan Athletic legend Emmerson Boyce, Danny Higginbotham, and Lee Trundle to his side.
Emmerson Boyce is a firm fan favourite across the entire of Wigan, and a man who is idolised in these parts, known as a legend. He’s returning, to Ashton Town to help Kevin Davies’ XI bid to defeat the Team GB Deaflympics men’s football squad in a charity match showdown. With the charity game taking place at non-league Ashton Town, Emmerson is a massive pull for Davies, as Emmerson is still a fantastic player, and has been involved in the game very recently.
Davies has massively boosted his full back options, with the signing of former Stoke defender Danny Higginbotham to his squad. Higginbotham has made over 396 appearances for 11 clubs, and has made 3 international appearances for Gibraltar.
We all know the quality of Kevin Davies, he was an excellent player during his career, who is guaranteed to add some fire power to his own XI. Davies has now added former Swansea City striker Lee Trundle to his side, who is a player who will certainly add some flair to the team. Trundle still plays football regularly, and is currently playing for Llanelli Town in the Welsh Football League Division 2, and of course, still firing goals.
Trundle, Boyce, Higginbotham, Mellor, Davies. What a line up already, and with more names set to be announced over the coming weeks, the Deaflympics charity match is set to be a classic.
Tickets are still available, however buy your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Tickets can be bought from Ashton Town’s chairman Mark Hayes via twitter @northernpromise or by emailing email@example.com. I couldn’t advice you to attend this match any more, it will be an absolutely fantastic day with a quality game of football in store, and all funds going to a great cause, which will help so many people achieve their dreams. I personally cannot wait and I hope to see as many people there as possible.
